2021/22 and 2022/23 Bristol Bay Red King Crab and Bering Sea Snow Crab Disasters

Vessel Owners

Initial 75% payments to qualifying vessel owners were mailed on 7/28/2025. These checks were sent via certified mail and require a signature upon delivery. Please be sure to mail back the green postcard included with your check, as it notifies PSMFC that your check has been received and signed for. The postcard is attached outside the envelope and is prepaid for your convenience. All checks were expected to be delivered by 8/4/2025. If you have not received your check please write to AKFishDisaster@psmfc.org 

A second payment, (remaining 25%) will be mail later this fall along with captains and crew members. The rational for two payments is to ensure that vessel owners cooperate and assist in any resolutions that need to occur regarding crew eligibility and crew shares. 

Quota Shareholders:

Relief checks for quota shareholders will be mailed on Friday, September 5th. 

Captains and Crew Members:
Applications for captains and crew members are expected to be available mid-September 2025. As this is a busy time for many fisheries, it is important to ensure your vessel owner has your most current mailing address. You should also check your address regularly or have a trusted person maintain your mail in your absence.

Captains and crew members will have a 90-day application period starting in mid-September, 2025.

Processors:
Due to the low number of qualifying processors (both active processors and Processor quota shareholders) PSMFC was able to review and process those claims with minimal effort. Relief disbursement occurred in late May, 2025.
