2021/22 and 2022/23 Bristol Bay Red King Crab and Bering Sea Snow Crab Disasters

Applications for Quota Shareholders and Vessel Owners were mailed on Friday, January 24th, 2025. Applicants are asked to wait three weeks before inquiring about the status of their applications to allow enough time for the United States Postal Service to deliver them or for undeliverable mail to be returned. Please wait until at least Monday, February 17th, 2025, to contact us.

 

Vessel Owners:
Vessel owners are responsible for submitting information about captains and crew employed during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 Bristol Bay Red King Crab and Bering Sea Snow Crab disasters. Vessel owners will have 90-days to submit complete applications, including captain and crew member affidavits (attached to applications). Applications are  due to be postmarked for return, uploaded to ShareFile, or faxed by Friday, April 25th, 2025.

Once vessel owner applications are received, eligible captains and crew members will be asked to submit applications in a subsequent 90-day period. Payments to vessel owners, captains, and crew will be made simultaneously after the captain and crew application period concludes and amendments are finalized.

It is crucial that vessel owners provide accurate names, mailing addresses, and contact information for all crew members employed during the relevant disasters. Failure to provide this information may delay relief disbursements to qualifying vessels.

Estimated disbursement is expected by the end of October 2025.

 

Captains and Crew Members:
Applications for captains and crew members are expected to be available early-mid June 2025. As this is a busy time for many fisheries, it is important to ensure your vessel owner has your most current mailing address. You should also check your address regularly or have a trusted person maintain your mail in your absence. Captains and crew members will have a 90-day application period starting in late June or early July 2025. Please continue to monitor our website for updates, as it will be our primary source of public information.

Estimated disbursement is expected by the end of October 2025.

Applications for eligible processors are expected to be mailed the week of January 27th, 2025. Please check our website for updates.
