2018 and 2020 Upper Cook Inlet Salmon Disasters

 

Applications for the 2018 and 2020 UCI salmon disasters were mailed to qualifying permit holders on Friday, November 1st, 2024. Please wait until Monday, November 25th before inquiring into the status of your application if not received by then; see eligibility requirements below

 

Applications are required to be postmarked no later than Friday, January 31st, 2025. Those mailing applications are encouraged to pay for delivery confirmation and/or tracking if you need to peace of mind that your application was received by our offices. 

 

Alternatively, applications may be submitted via fax or ShareFile no later than 11:59pm AKST on Friday, January 31st, 2025. Those who upload to ShareFile will receive an auto-generated email upon successful submission. Please provide an email address that is monitored and check your spam folder. If a confirmation email is not received, it is safe to assume we did not receive your application.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

S04H Permit Holders:
MUST have registered a valid S04H permit in 2018, 2020, or both.

MUST have purchased a buoy sticker for the Upper Subdistrict, demonstrated by ADF&G records.

 

S03H Permit Holders:
MUST have landed salmon in Upper Cook Inlet in 2020 on a S03H permit.
MUST have demonstrated a loss in ex-vessel value for UCI salmon in 2020 compared to the five-year average from 2015-2019, based on CFEC identification number. This requirement does not apply to permit holders who began participating in 2020. T
his analysis will be conducted by PSMFC; documentation is not being requested of applicants.

 


PROCESSORS: 

Applications were made available on Tuesday, November 12th, 2025 to qualifying processing operations. Please wait until December 3rd, 2024 to inquire if you believe you qualified but have not received a physical application in the mail. Electronic applications were emailed on November 12th. Processors will have 90-days to apply; applications are due February 11th, 2025. 


CREW MEMBERS:

Applications were made available on Friday, November 1st, 2025.

Crew member Applications are required to be postmarked no later than Friday, February 28th, 2025. Those mailing applications are encouraged to pay for delivery confirmation and/or tracking if you need to peace of mind that your application was received by our offices. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
MUST have held a valid crew member license or a CFEC fishery permit for the respective year(s), 2018, 2020, or both.
MUST provide evidence of participation as fishing crew in the designated fishery and year for a qualifying S03H or S04H permit holder, supported by an affidavit from the permit holder.
Individuals who qualify for disaster funds as a permit holder or transferee are ineligible to qualify as crew members within the same fishery.
