2019-20 Bering Sea Tanner Crab

Applicants are encouraged to review the State of Alaska’s spend plan for the 2019/20 Bering Sea Tanner Crab Disaster. This document serves as the framework for administering this relief program and contains the criteria for eligibility as well as the methodology for how payments will be calculated. This document was authored by the Alaska Dept. Fish and Game.


Captains and Crew

Please note, it is the sole responsibility of the captain or crew member to submit this documentation. Vessel owners / CFEC permit holders are NOT responsible for submitting documentation.

  • Applicants will be expected to return via standard mail or PSMFC ShareFile upload the following:
    • Application that is signed, name is printed, and dated.
    • Complete W-9 tax form.
    • Crew contract, crew settlement, or affidavit from eligible vessel owner or CFEC permit holder
  • Applicants mailing paper applications should opt for delivery confirmation and/or tracking if you are concerned about when or whether your application was received.
    • PSMFC will NOT entertain inquires such as “Has my application been received?”
  • Applicants uploading their completed application packets to PSMFC’s ShareFile site will see the screen change to the following after a successful upload is complete.
    • Unfortunately, this system does not allow for automatic email confirmations.
    • PSMFC will NOT entertain inquires such as “Has my application been received?”
    • Please note that should you see the screen change, as shown below, your application was received and will be processed.

  • Applications are required to be postmarked for return (if mailing) by September 20th, 2024.
      • Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.
  • Alternatively, applications are required to be uploaded to PSMFC’s ShareFile site no later than 11:59pm AKDT on September 20th, 2024.
      • Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.

QS Holders, Vessel Owners, PQS Holders, and Active Processors

  • Please note: ADF&G and PSMFC use the same CFEC public database to determine permit holder and vessel owner eligibility. This eligibility is verified by both agencies before applications become available.

  • QS Holders, Vessel Owners, PQS Holders, and Active Processors will all have unique applications (identifying their base payments) mailed to them.
  • Applications were mailed on Friday, June 7th.
    • Please allow a minimum of 2-weeks for delivery before reaching out to Commission staff.

Should you believe you are eligible and have not received a unique application by July 1st, 2024 please email AKFishDisaster@psmfc.org and Commission staff will reply with an electronic copy. Electronic copies will NOT be emailed until after July 1st, 2024
